Therein – Nobelium

Today we’re at a very great and new sound, Therein’s, a Progressive Metal band from Brisbane, Aus. Formed in 2011. Therein has forged and build a sound in the last years, and after releasing the EP “Pink Floyd Sessions”, bring to us the Re-Issued version of “Nobelium” which was released back in 2013, including more songs and better production in this version.

“This album contains very good compositions, the musical talent is remarkable in every band member, making a special call to the drummer Kned Guillford, contributing a lot to Therein’s sound”.

cover We start with “Plutus Unblind”, a song of 8 minutes long that opens perfectly this album, from the very beginning is enjoyable, and with various changes of rhythms and mood, sets us for the next 7 tracks.

In “Introspect” we hear the same diversity but followed by a singular effect in the start and some exotic sounds here and there, giving it a nice interesting flavor, that doesn’t make “Mandoblues” any less. This one being interesting, as we hear a bluesy sound, combining this with pretty heavy vocals as well as the rhythms. Being this a song very recommended to hear, it’s a nice track.

Something very sudden is the including of the drum solo… which connect us with “Audacious Erotica”, track that starts out end ends with a sound/rhythm mixtures, reminding us a little bit of Pink Floyd. With all the song so far, there is no doubt of the talent in this band, but in “A Lamentation”, which by the way is the longest song in the record, we can hear the progressiveness in the band and much more.

Therein is a very versatile band in many ways, we left 3 songs for the album is done and I think that by hearing the songs it’s self explanatory.

“Comprehension”, with an outstanding sense of musical progression, “Samuel’s Reel”, inspired by Al Petteway, a Celtic composition, and “The Triune Brain”, very stick to a Death Metal sound.

Terein’s line-up is:

Cameron Whelan – Guitars, Mandolin, Vocals.
Ryan Boyd – Guitars, Fret Fondling.
Kned Gulliford – Drums, Percussion, and BV’s.
